AI credits

Brainerce's AI features run on credits. Every plan includes a monthly allowance, and on a paid plan you can buy more any time. This guide explains what uses credits and how to keep topped up.

Your monthly allowance

Paid plans have no daily cap, only the monthly allowance. See Plans & limits for the full comparison.

Free resets, paid plans roll over. On Free, the 30 a month and 5 a day are caps: the day counter resets at midnight UTC and the month counter on the 1st (UTC), and unused credits are lost. On Pro and Growth the allowance is a balance: each month's 100 or 300 credits are added to it, unused credits roll over to the next month with no limit, and credit packs you buy stack on top. This is true on an annual plan too, which is paid once a year but still receives its credits month by month.

What uses credits

Most everyday AI actions cost about 1 credit. Image and video generation cost more because they're heavier to run. The figures below are typical: the actual charge is based on the real cost of each request, so a long or complex one (for example, a multi-step assistant chat) can use a little more.

Removing a background in the media library is free: it runs in your browser. Image generation and the AI Image Studio need the Pro plan or higher, and video generation needs Growth or higher. On a plan below that, the button opens the upgrade window ("This feature requires Pro or higher") instead of spending credits.

Background helper steps the assistant runs on its own don't cost anything. Cheap actions are charged in fractions of a credit: a short SEO meta description for one product costs a few hundredths of a credit, not a whole one.

Sending an email campaign uses credits too, in proportion to the number of recipients (about 50 emails per credit). The campaign screen shows the cost before you send. See Email campaigns.

Your storefront support bot draws from the same monthly pool as your dashboard assistant. On a busy storefront that can use up your allowance, so keep an eye on your balance, or top up.

How many AI credits does an email cost?

Only two kinds of email work use credits: sending a campaign, and using AI to write or change an email.

Sending an email campaign costs 1 credit for every 50 recipients, charged once, at the moment the campaign goes out (a scheduled campaign is charged when it sends, not when you book it). The charge is exact and in fractions: a campaign to 960 people takes 19.2 credits from your balance, and the screen shows that as 20 because it always rounds up to a whole credit. People who cannot be mailed (never opted in, unsubscribed, or held back while your store warms up) are not counted. If a campaign is stopped before some of its emails were handed to the mail queue, the credits for those unsent emails are returned to your balance.

Using AI on an email costs credits each time you ask. Writing a whole email with AI costs about 2 credits. Email copy suggestions, subject line options, rewrite options for one piece of text, and each message to the email editor's AI assistant cost about 1 credit each. Generating an image for an email costs about 7. These are typical figures; the real charge follows the real cost of the request. Clicking text and editing it yourself, and saving a template, are free.

Automatic emails are not charged per email. A series such as a welcome or win-back series does not use a credit for each message it sends. It only needs a balance above zero (the Enterprise plan is exempt): when your credits run out, the whole series pauses until credits are back. See Automatic emails.

Transactional emails never cost credits and never wait for them. Order confirmations, shipping updates, refund notices, password resets, abandoned checkout reminders and every other email a customer receives because of something they did are sent with a zero credit balance too. Running out of credits stops AI features and automatic email series, not these.

Where to see your balance

• Dashboard header. The credit indicator (⚡) shows the number of credits you have left (the lower of what is left today and this month, on Free). It turns amber when you are running low and red when AI is blocked. Click it to open the AI Credits panel: This cycle shows "used / total" with a Resets on date, and on Free only, a Today row shows the daily cap with its reset time. Paid plans have no Today row. When you are low or out, an Upgrade plan button appears in the panel.
• Settings → Billing. The Usage this cycle card shows AI credits as "N of total" with a Resets on date and a status: Within your plan, Approaching the limit or Limit reached. On Pro and Growth the total is your balance plus what you used this cycle, so it can be higher than the monthly allowance (rollover and packs). There, Approaching the limit means fewer than 20 credits left on Pro (fewer than 60 on Growth), and Limit reached means none left. On Free it means 80% and 100% of the monthly or daily cap, whichever is closer.

Buy more credits

On a paid plan you can top up any time, and purchased credits don't expire while your subscription is active.

Only the account owner can buy credits. A Manager has no Settings → Billing entry in their menu at all, so there is nowhere for them to buy a pack, and there is no permission you can grant to add it. Credits must be bought by the account owner.

1. Go to Settings → Billing.

2. Click Buy more credits. The Buy AI credits window opens ("One-time top-up. Credits never expire as long as your subscription is active.").

3. Choose a pack (each card also shows its price per credit; the 100 pack is the one selected by default):

   A pack is charged in the same currency as your plan. An account billed in shekels (merchants in Israel) pays the shekel price (VAT included, nothing is added at checkout); an account billed in dollars pays the dollar price, even if you are in Israel. You cannot pick a different currency for a pack, because Stripe cannot charge one account in two currencies. See Which currency you are billed in.

4. Click Buy for $9 (the button shows the price of the pack you picked) and complete the secure Stripe checkout. Your credits are added within seconds.

A pack is a one-time payment. Pro and Growth balances roll over, so a pack you do not use up stays on your balance. If your plan is cancelled or you move to Free, the whole balance, packs included, is frozen and returns when you upgrade again (see Upgrade your plan).

On the Free plan there is no Buy more credits button: the same spot reads Upgrade to PRO for more credits. Credit packs cannot be bought on Free at all, because a pack alone would not lift the Free daily and monthly caps. Upgrade to Pro or Growth to unlock credit top-ups. See Upgrade your plan.

Auto top-up does not exist yet

There is no auto top-up. Brainerce does not buy credits for you when your balance runs low, and the Buy AI credits dialog has no switch, pack size or threshold for it. No charge is ever made to your card automatically for credits: your balance does not refill by itself, and every pack is a payment you start yourself. If you run out, buy a pack by hand from Buy more credits (see above), or wait for your next monthly allowance on a paid plan.

An older version of the dialog offered an Enable auto top-up switch. It was removed because it saved a pack size and a trigger threshold but never bought anything. Nothing changes for a store that had saved those values: no charge was ever made for them and none will be.
