Edit a product photo with BOBO

Ask BOBO to remove a photo's background, put the product on a clean studio background, or improve its quality, and check the result before anything changes.

BOBO can edit an existing photo for you: remove the background, put your product on a clean white studio background, enhance the quality, or make a change you describe in words. Attach the photo in the chat, or name a product and BOBO edits its main picture.

How do I make a studio photo from a phone photo?

  1. Open the AI assistant, click the paperclip and attach the photo, or just name the product ("edit the main photo of the Coffee cup").
  2. Say what you want, for example "Make this a studio photo on a clean white background" or "Remove the background".
  3. BOBO shows an approval card with the photo, the edit and, if it uses AI credits, says so. Approve it.
  4. BOBO makes the edit and shows you the result in the chat, next to your original. Nothing in your store has changed yet.
  5. If you like it, say "Apply it". BOBO shows a second card with the photo before and after. Approve it and the new picture replaces the old one.

A background removal takes a few seconds. A new background can take a minute or more. If it is not ready yet, BOBO tells you, and you can ask "What is the status of the edit?" a little later to see it.

What does it cost?

  • Remove the background is free. It does not use AI credits.
  • Replace the background, enhance the quality and a free edit by instruction use AI credits and need the Pro plan or higher. BOBO tells you before you approve, and if your store is on the Free plan or has no credits left, it says so and offers the free background removal instead.

See AI credits.

What exactly changes when I apply an edit?

Applying an edit replaces the picture file in your media library, and so it changes on every product that uses that picture, not only the one you were looking at. That is why BOBO asks twice: once to make the edit, and once, with a before and after, to apply it.

Before the picture is replaced, BOBO keeps a copy of your original. If BOBO cannot save that copy, it does not apply the edit and tells you nothing was changed.

How do I go back to the original photo?

Tell BOBO "Go back to the original photo" (or name the product: "Restore the original photo of the Coffee cup"). BOBO shows a card with the picture before and after, and only after you approve does the original come back, in the media library and on every product that uses it.

  • This works for photos you edited through BOBO. A photo you edited somewhere else, such as in the AI Image Studio, has no copy kept by BOBO.
  • The edited picture is kept too, so if you change your mind again, ask BOBO to restore it the same way.
  • There is no screen in the dashboard for this. The way back is the chat.

What BOBO does not do

  • It does not draw a new product from your description when you ask to edit your own photo. Drawing a new picture from text is a different request ("Generate an image of..."), the result is not your real product, and it also uses credits.
  • It does not edit only part of a picture with a brush or a mask. For that, use the AI Image Studio.
  • It does not edit a picture that is a link to another website. The photo has to be in your media library or attached in the chat.
  • It does not change a picture without your approval. Both the edit and the apply wait for you.

Which photos work?

JPG, PNG and WebP photos work. Photos from phones in other formats (such as HEIC from an iPhone) are converted when you attach them; if one cannot be read, BOBO asks you to send it again as JPG or PNG. Large photos are fine: BOBO shrinks the copy it looks at, and your original file is used for the edit.
